Loving
Brief: 'Loving' is one of the first singles released after the band was on a hiatus after their prior album 'Cloak and Cipher'. After this break the band released 'Life After Youth' in 2017 with the track 'Inner Lover' as the teaser for the album. The album itself is a series of stories and tales about love, and as the album is named, life after youth.
Background: 'Loving' is, well, about loving. More specifically, loving someone who isn't in your life anymore. It highlights the woes and pains you go through when you are stuck in this situation and the thoughts that go through your head.

[Verse 1]
I've been meaning to forget you
And God knows just what that means
Even so, I try to get through
Even lonely in my dreams
Now and then I like to get around
Now that you're alone, don't you live here?
Someone's lies, they just get better

"I've been meaning to forget you, And God knows just what that means"
Being so infatuated with someone and then just trying to forget them doesn't really work. The very concept of forgetting someone is so hard for the singer, and this is supported by "And God knows just what that means"

"Even so, I try to get through, Even lonely in my dreams"
Despite everything, you try and get through the pain, and the loneliness still affects you in every aspect, even dreams, the one place you can't control your emotions.

"Now and then I like to get around, Now that you're alone, don't you live here? Someone's lies, they just get better"
This line highlights the irrational nature of some people when they get out of a relationship. "Now and then I like to get around" meaning that the individual is having sex with a lot of people, highlights their desperation of trying to forget their previous lover. "Someone's lies, they just get better" this line relates to the individual 'getting around' and the rumors and conspiracies that start as a result of her actions.

[Chorus]
There's that song, t-t-t-touch your body, feel it
It's gonna get worse
Don't say you live here
Don't let it get cursed

"There's that song, t-t-t-touch your body, feel it, It's gonna get worse"
The line "There's that song" references the individuals and her past lover's favourite song that they had as a couple. This is supported by the line "t-t-t-touch your body, feel it," which insinuates a sexual tone. This song clearly has an effect on the individual. Furthermore, the line "It's gonna get worse" shows that the individual knows that holding on to this part of their life is going to have a negative effect in the long run.

[Verse 2]
I've been living like I'm locked out
I can see the midnight skies
Sometimes love, it would sustain you
Only if you're on my side
Now and then I like to kid around
Some might say I just don't let up
Life's not long, why don't you live it?

I've been living like I'm locked out, I can see the midnight skies
The concept of living like your locked out describes the individuals feeling of being trapped in this constant limbo of being alone. They can't picture themself being free with someone else, so they have accepted the fact that they aren't over someone yet, and live like they are "locked out". Being able to "see the midnight skies" further enforces the idea of being locked out, and puts a spin of reality on the concept, being physically locked outside of your house, being able to see the midnight sky.

Sometimes love, it would sustain you, Only if you're on my side
This line highlights the individuals need for the other person. With the other person's love they felt like they had sustainability, they had a purpose. But without it, the individual has no purpose. This is further supported by the line "Only if you're on my side"

Now and then I like to kid around, Some might say I just don't let up
This line could be a reference to the first verse line, "Now and then I like to get around", and may show the individual back-tracking on the fact that she got around, hoping that she won't look bad to her previous lover. "Some may say I just don't let up" further shows the individuals want to impress and show herself in a good light to her previous lover, constantly trying to paint herself in a better light for someone else.

Life's not long, why don't you live it?
This line is in reference to the current verse, the individual is trying to get her lover back. This line and "Sometimes love it would sustain you," are both trying to convey to the previous lover that life isn't as good without each other.

It's gonna get worse
Don't say you live here
Don't let it get cursed
